Beautiful!

I just remember losing my shit the first time I saw this photo for Narciso Rodriguez's fragrance, because the model was just so goddamn beautiful.
This photo just feels naive, and candid, and raw. I'm sad to say that the model, Evandro Soldati, doesn't quite captivate me as much in his other work.
Props to Inez & Vinoodh for the gorgeous photo.

Reprezentn Mdl-3ast.

AJ Abualrub is an up and coming male model who's done a lot of work lately with Calvin Klein. You can spot him with the silver hair in the CK Campaigns, but he's got a pretty cool story!
He hails from Kentucky, and was a finalist in Vman's model search. But his real name is Ahmad Jamal Abualrub, he's not really got any Arabic features, but that's a pretty intense name as is.

Check out his pics below and profile on Models.com.

Beyonce

Listen to this slick remix I found on Hypem.com of Beyonce's Me, Myself and I.

Such a great song as is, and I've been watching the video lately on YouTube. There's a lot to it as a short film, more then just a sleazy music video.

B A L M A I N

Madonna's attachment to Louis Vuitton and Marc Jacobs is endearing, though the Fall 2009 campaign was a little tacky in my opinion, she's sporting a great dress by Balmain in her new video for Celebration. I think she should move a bit further from the LV bunny ears and more towards something more chic for her age and body, though still daring and new.

Do your thing Madge.

Also, check out Balmains F/W 09 show. Mind the disco influence...

Sum hawt toons.

I like music, and I forgot about it.

We're going to compare this wicked song by Lykke Li I found on the lovely Hype Machine.

Dance, Dance, Dance.

Here's the original.

And this sexy ass remix.

BIG fashion NO #6.

It's been a while!
I've just been working and dicking around Ottawa so I haven't had time to update as much as I'd like to.

I've seen some other blogs lately and I'm impressed at what people can actually get in to when they update each day on stuff they find.

I've found some awesome street style blogs lately, too.
Thanks to the Facehunter Show.
God bless Yvan.

Anyways, down to business!
I noticed these horrible, horrible scarves when I was on the bus today.
It suddenly hit me: the Kefaya is dead. It had it's run throughout 2008, but now it's landed itself as a BIG fashion NO on my blog.

So R.I.P. you nasty scarf.

p.s.

This scarf is sometimes called an 'Anti-war scarf' or 'Kefaya' which, in Arabic, actually means 'enough.'
They were taken up by hipsters as a form of protest for the conflicts ongoing in the Middle East, I suppose. Though, they've exploded to too big a trend for anyone to really know anything about what they are.

Gladiator.

Not Russell Crowe.

I love the sandal trend on girls, but as it happens far too often in fashion the trend does not seem diffuse in to menswear.
Well, at least not in North America.
Yet!

Men's Gladiator sandals that I want:

Rain, rain, go away.

I want this!
It's raining outside, and it's pretty, but... I don't have a proper raincoat.

I love the colour, and I wish more were offered. If I found a similar vintage relic I'd buy it over American Apparel, just so I don't blend in to all the hipsters that, I'm sure, are also coveting this.

Fashion Comeback?

Pullover hoodies!

I feel we've just been so crazy layering htat we should take it back to something simple. I saw a guy on the bus yesterday in a simple American Apparel heather grey cotton hoodie that he had on with no shirt underneath, with a pair of dark indigo jeans and some red detail Nike AF1s and it looked great! Topped off with a fitted cap. He looked cuter then his girlfriend.

I think the fact he had no shirt on underneath was a fresh idea with sweatshirts.
Really abolish layering!

BIG fashion NO #5.

Almost under ALL circumstances Denim Jackets are forbidden!
I've only seen one person do it properly, but even still it was risky!

This may make Abercrombie Mad, but mathing denim and denim are forbidden; denim's that dont match are forbidden; and that leaves you with cords/denim or kahki/denim.

So all in all, it's not worth it to buy one!

I reccomend a nice faux-leather bomber instead, it'll be as warm as that Jean jacket, but much much more versatile.

Man Uggs?

I don't have a problem with Ugg boots and how they seem to have taken over the world in the last few years, but what about man Uggs?

I crept it up, and I've seen a few guys in them (including Ben Affleck), but it's not something I think guys can pull off.
I just don't think it's meant to be! As much as I want a pair.

Most horrifyingly I found this...

Chanel No°5

The new film in the ongoing series of refinements and tweaks to the signature fragrance has one of my favourite French actresses Audrey Tautou, from Amelie, as the embodiment of the fragrance.

It's a gorgeous commercial directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet, just as Amelie was.

Enjoy.

Memory lane.

I forgot about Orisinal!
It's actually the cutest site ever, and it just really winds down any stress you have. I kind of wish I had it during school.

shiseido.

This commercial by Shiseido reminded me of why I love Japan so so so much.

Fashion4Dummies.

This video through Style.com is pretty much the one video you should watch to sum up Spring 2009.
This is obviously a season behind, but it's a great video.

The Dragon's Lair.

New Dragonette!

This is the video for their new single Fixin to Thrill.

I looove Dragonette, they're just so fun and danceable. They've got a sexy, young, urban(maybe more suburban) edge to them that I like.

BIG fashion NO #4.

Kanye Glasses!

The man's a mogul, he made this shit happen and that's unbelievable.
But they're gone people, we're movin' on.

BIG fashion NO #3.

Coloured Denim.

We've all got some somewhere in our closet, especially after they filtered down to the discount retail stores like Stitches.

Unfortunately this trend died rather quickly, and now is kind of just used in homemade costume.

I still like the idea of a not-so-neutral bottom, but just as long as it's not Ketchup Red or Banana Yellow.

BIG fashion NO #2.

I hate monogram bags!
Ladies, if you're going to invest a lot of money in a designer bag a word of advice: monograms are the most counterfeited! So when you get one, it just looks like a fake.

Be original, go for something new.

Now when I see a Louis Vuitton (firstly, I cringe) and second... I just don't believe it's real no matter what. Regardless, that pattern is so dead.

BIG fashion NO's.

Hey, so I was on the bus coming from downtown today and then it hit me.
The bus was full of bad fashion choices and ridiculous looking people.

So I've decided to compile my personal list of Big Fashion No's and it will begin today with our debut "No" ...

Socks and Sandals

Obviously this is the classic Fashion No-no, but today I saw it taken to new lenghts with the...toe-bumper equipped sandal.

It was just, like, "why even wear sandals at all?"
It was a gross experience, and I hope not to go back there.

Dunkkk.

I saw these today for an unreal price, and I've wanted a pair for sooo long.

Sneaker Pimp.

One thing that's like blown up in the last year or so is the return and rise of the high-top shoe. Maybe it's the fact that a slimmer trouser is now in, to actually show that shoe off, and the fact that skate shoes are almost unheard of now.

But high-tops aren't always the best.

Here are some really cool shoes I found when lurking the netz.

Creative Rectreation Massino

Ultimate Jacket

I really like guys in Trench coats, a nice fitted one shows off a guys shoulders and height if the proper style.
Sometimes you see business men running around in flimsy cotton Trenches that are far too big and pleated. They look, just totally reckless and wild. Like Snow White running through the forest getting tattered on the trees.

Here are some really great options!

This J. Lindberg Trench is simple, I like it's slim tailoring, but the belt is a little high in my opinion.

Burberry invented the Trench coat, so you've got to give them credit for doing them best! I love the Trench 19 Slim's silhouette.

This is a more affordable option from Shades of Greige on Urban. I like it best for it's clean lines.

My kind of girl.

Bruna Tenorio

My favourite runway model, who has this gorgeous asian look to her, but hails from Brazil.

Matt & Nat

This is another brand I've happily followed for a while, I don't really remember my first introduction to them. They're Canadian and vegan which is terrific.
They're also sold among some of the great high end brands of today! You can find them where you find Marc Jacobs and Rag & Bone.

I've got my eye on this terrific bag.

I will do my best to find it at a lesser price, though.

Cheap Monday.

I can't remember when I was first introduced to this denim brand, sometime in 2007, but it's one that I've followed since and I'm really impressed with.
Generally they're around $80 in North America, unless you know boutique sales really well, but I heard they are around the $30 mark in Sweden!
So I've got a friend there now, maybe he can hook me up.

Here's a cool shirt I found from their SS09 collection.

And their signature jean, in a regular fit. I love the logo.

Polyvore!

On the wave of material hedonism I seem to be riding, I've found Polyvore.com.
This is essentially a website that gives you an opportunity to make a lookbook out of your wishlist.

I've made this cool set, and I really want those Calvin Klein undies.

iWant

I really want an iPhone!
I was battling between getting a Blackberry or iPhone(because I'm obviously in desperate need of a smart phone/very rich or hard-working), but I decided that my Macbook and iPod need a friend.

Slave to Apple? Sadly, yes.

And the iPhone 3G is so cool! And if you get the 16 GB it comes in black or white!

I don't really remember when I became this huge materialist, but... it's who I am now. So live with it!

Pretty boy.

So I usually try my hardest not to jump on bandwagons, but some things turn from a bandwagon to generational icons.
Could Twilight be that?

I didn't even finish the book! I found it boring, but I could definitely tell why so many pre-teen/teenage girls(and some boys) fell in love with the story: Edward Cullen.

He's definitely not my type, but I kind of dig the hair! He's come a long way since playing Cedric Diggory.

The top notes

One thing I've wanted and had on my mind for ages now is the concept of how your fragrance reflects your own personal identity.
So I've been browsing fragrances for a while, and I've compiled a short list of my favourite fragrances for men.

My favourite place to find these is, of coures, Sephora.
God bless Sephora.

The List
3. Hugo Boss Pure

This was my first real introduction to a male fragrance, I learned to really be critical of how a fragrance is on your skin through it. It's a very sweet one, but I found fades really quickly throughout the day. Very light, and good for spring.

2. Gucci by Gucci Pour Homme

I was shocked by how much I liked this. I guess I had made a generalization bout Gucci, that it was just tacky and... hoochie!
This is really a lovely fragrance though. Very spicy, very sexy.
This... doesn't mean I'll be holding one of those awful Gucci Tattoo Bags. Even if Rihanna does.

1. Chanel Allure Homme Édition Blanche

The most beautiful fragrance I've smelled on a man. An adorable woman working at the Bay showed it to my sister and I and I fell in love with it. Hints of lemon are surprising, but it's just so beautiful and refined.

One thing I'll never shake is the inconsistency I feel wearing a designer fragrance, but not designer clothes. I wonder how much it really matters?

As my bandwidth runs out...

I've been watching a lot of my faves lately, because it's been hard to keep up with shows during school.

I've always loved Project Runway, but I missed out on all of Project Runway Canada when I was at Bishop's. It was filmed in Ottawa! That's so nuts, because Ottawa is pretty tame as a place.

Sunny won, of course(!), and I've got to say that season was pretty disappointing overall. Kim just kept coming back and surviving the challenges. The girl couldn't even sew! And because of her Adejoke(a favourite designer) had left for her excellent work.

It was brutal, you can tell the producers(Iman) had manipulated the competition to keep ratings.

Still an awesome show though!

Now on to Project Catwalk! The lovely British sister to Project Runway.

Spring Fashion Necessities.

Stuff every guy just needs in the spring time. And some stuff that I just don't have yet, which blows.

The rain jacket.

One I prefer is actually the trench coat.
Here's a cool one from Dr. Denim at ssense.

And the classic Nylon jacket.
Here's a WESC one on KarmaLoop that a guy I know has and wears often.

The right shoes.

The right footwear in the rain is key! You don't really have to wear a pair of knee-high Wal-Mart black rubber boots, but you gotta make sure you're at least wearing something durable enough to keep your feet dry.

I love these shoes no matter what, but if you ask me their black leather upper is a good alternative to big yellow boots!

Wellington's!
I didn't know much about the whole HUNTER Brand before I met my friend who has many pairs, but it's an iconic British name. They do get a lot of rain, afterall.
Here's a cool pair of boots.

Spring Inspirations

Sometimes when you're starved for inspiration you can't find it, but sometimes simple things catch you off guard by how they can be interpreted so beautifully.

Here are some cool photographs that I saw on deviantART lately.

French Sailors, eh?

So the new Camera Obscura album is something that I've totally missed out on lately! I haven't even downloaded it yet, which is totally lame, but their single is really addictive.
Just classic Camera Obscura. My friend once called them 'just fun' and it's really true.

Here's their single French Navy.

Beautiful Canadian Girl

Shalom Harlow.

She's all that and more, I've not heard to much about here but here are some really cool shots of her walking for the latest Viktor and Rolf show.

This is a toned down dress from V&F, but it's got such a class to it. She looks fierce in her eye makeup, too.

And this is the dress that opens the show.

This was a cool video that Vogue did about her.

Took me a while to get used to her, but she's just so elegant.

First post.

Hey readers, so this is my first post on Crepuscular Blog.
Hopefully this will be a cool outlet for you to see the cool things that I see in my day to day life.

I'll start by explaining the meaning of the word crepuscular and how it came to be the name of my blog. I might change this Tiesto song, too.

crepuscular \kri-PUS-kyuh-lur\, adjective:
1. Of, pertaining to, or resembling twilight; dim.
2. (Zoology) Appearing or active at twilight.

This is much better.
